In 1994, Nate Wiley and The Crowd Pleasers were providing great entertainment for the weekened crowds. The new management added the now famous Drag Show on Thursday nights. Then Rick Dobrowolski (Rick D.) started to book live local musickal acts on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Rick suggested that the bar get a case of PBR and a bottle of Jim Beam bourbon, selling a can of PBR and a shot of Jim Beam together for $3, calling it "The Special"
This drink combo became widly popular, and it still is. It has been featured in many publications, including Philadelphia Magazine, Maxim, Details, The Washington Post, Philadelphia City Paper, Phyiladelphia Weekly and many others.
Other bars began to copy this PBR /shot combo, and it is now known as the "Citywide Special"
